Biography
My name is Emily Cowen. I have a physical disability called athetoid quadriplegic cerebral palsy. I am a member of multiple advocacy organizations that advocate for disabled people, which are Camden Coalition, YASA (Youth as Self-advocates), Youth Steering Committee, and Connecticut Council for Developmental Disabilities. I teach a class about self advocacy to youth with disabilities as well. I graduated from Sacred Heart University in December 2022 with my bachelors degree in psychology. Since graduating, I've started my own business called Em's Disability Advocacy Consulting Services. I also live independently with my fiancé.

The students really appreciated Emily's honesty about ableism and her experience in speech pathology.
