Biography
A seasoned user of augmentative communication for over 20 years, Sara's journey began at age four. Despite a traumatic birth leading to severe Cerebral Palsy, she thrived with the early support of medical professionals who championed her strengths. Her educational journey, which included both public school and specialized outplacement to earn her diploma, provides her with a truly unique and valuable perspective. After a major surgery and year-long hospitalization, Sara had to relearn how to access her eye-gaze device. This experience has informed her patient perspective clinical conversations centering on physical and mental health.

We had Sara Young come visit our colloquium, and she was an excellent speaker and advocate for AAC users. I enjoyed her personal experiences and descriptions of her life.
